Regional pilot project started: SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests in Hamburg day care centers
As part of the pilot project SCoPE (SARS-CoV-2 PCR examination), the feasibility of screening for SARS-CoV-2 using PCR analysis is being tested at two Hamburg day care centers. Instead of the usual nasopharyngeal swab for sample collection, children suck on a swab for 30 seconds for each sample.
The tests can help to determine the current risk of infection at day care centers and to prevent further infections, e.g. by targeted isolation measures.
The pilot project SCoPE is a cooperation of the accredited diagnostic laboratory Labor Dr. Fenner & Kollegen and altona Diagnostics GmbH – two Hamburg-based companies with many years of experience in the field of infectious diagnostics.
